Frozen: A Pop-Up Adventure
Matthew Reinhart. Disney Editions, $40 (12p) ISBN 978-1-4847-3780-4
Reinhart brings his talents to the Frozen phenomenon, creating elaborate three-dimensional pop-ups to tell the story of sisters Elsa and Anna. Reinhart’s concise retelling moves briskly (no pun intended) through the story, hitting all of its dramatic and comedic high points. Moments in his multilayered and always-impressive paper engineering include Elsa’s towering palace of ice and a show-stopping two-in-one pop-up for the climactic happy reunion between the sisters. The delicacy of the pop-ups—not to mention the price tag—seem to destine this book for collectors’ shelves and (careful) family reading. That said, it isn’t hard to imagine cries of “Let it go” arising as siblings fight over setting the book’s interactive elements in motion. Ages 12–up. (Oct.)
