What Mommies Like

In the companion to What Daddies Like (2017), a mother bear and her cub spend a day together. The bears—both are light gray and there’s something in their stocky shape that calls to mind thick toast slices—begin with hugs and kisses in the morning. Then it’s time for yoga, a visit to the library, and a drum circle for two (using logs and sticks). Six creates a cozy neighborhood populated by woodland animal families, including owls, hedgehogs, and foxes, in her watercolor spreads. Once the stars come out, the bears ride their bicycles home to their den in a hill, where their nighttime wind-down includes reading, bath time, and cuddles.
