Origami Man

FitzSimmons’s ingeniously plotted fifth novel featuring computer hacker Gibson Vaughn (after 2018’s Debris Line) finds Gibson in the Cayman Islands still recovering from his 18-month imprisonment at a CIA black site with fellow fugitives Jenn Charles and Dan Hendricks. Jenn is approached by Gibson’s arch nemesis, Fred Tinsley, a cold-blooded killer for hire, who has a thumb drive containing something so important that lives have already been lost trying to obtain it. Jenn needs Gibson’s computer savvy to access the information on the drive. Gibson discovers that it contains data pertaining to a terrorist plot threatening to cause half a million deaths over a two-year period. In response, a tenuous partnership of necessity is formed among Fred, Jenn, Gibson, and Dan. The tension rises as they travel to Europe and seek to learn more about the plot and figure out who is culpable. The relentless suspense will keep readers turning the pages.
