Taste the Clouds

Marshall (I Hate to Read!) and Italian artist Domeniconi (Lola and Me) offer a dreamy, almost synesthetic meditation on the way we perceive the world. “Do you believe I can touch the stars?” a girl asks, shown standing on the back of a giant owl and clutching a five-pointed star. Other unexpected questions follow (“Listen to colors? Smell a rainbow?”), followed by an answer: “I believe you can smell the flowers and listen to the bees,/ But I would rather listen to the moon!” The scenarios may well lead to supplemental conversations, and Domeniconi’s richly rendered and gently surreal images suggest possibilities in the impossible.
