This is not a Pentecostal book, but it sure sounds like one--and a pretty good one, at that. Jeffress, pastor of a Southern Baptist megachurch in Texas, grew up spending his Sunday mornings in a Baptist church and his Sunday evenings at the ""noticeably more lively"" service at the Assembly of God. Both traditions animate this charismatically-inclined-but-fully-Baptist book on the work of the Holy Spirit. Jeffress tackles common misunderstandings of the Spirit, its power and its purpose; shares poignant anecdotes from his ministry; and freely admits to his own shortcomings. Evangelical readers will come away with a new appreciation of the Spirit's potential in their lives as they seek to overcome various challenges (including sexual sin, to which Jeffress devotes a good portion of text). The book is strong in biblical application, and offers energetic prose.
