15 Minutes to Fit: The Simple 30-Day Guide to Total Fitness, 15 Minutes at a Time
Zuzka Light and Jeff O’Connell. Avery, $25 (288p) ISBN 978-1-58333-582-6
Light, a YouTube fitness star, and O’Connell, editor-in-chief of Bodybuilding.com, have created a comprehensive guide to a healthy and fit lifestyle. High-intensity training is the crux of their program, in the form of short-burst workouts designed to fit into even the busiest of schedules. Before Light and O’Connell delve into these exercises, they dedicate valuable space to mental health: setting goals and adhering to positive habits, overcoming negative thoughts, and drawing on support systems. The authors then cover the basics of nourishment before discussing diets, recipes, and which groceries and kitchen tools to purchase. Only after these fundamentals do the “15 Minutes to Fit” workouts appear, complete with thorough instructions and images demonstrating each exercise. Gorgeous photographs accompany the recipes, which include biscuits, salmon, and deviled eggs, among many other mouthwatering dishes. Scattered throughout the text are somewhat gratuitous pictures of Light in minimal clothing. Also included are testimonials from Light’s followers and helpful tips such as “Five Ways to Motivate Your Significant Other Without Being a Jerk.” Light and O’Connell’s easily digestible guide will appeal to people of all ages and skill levels—as long as they can spare 15 minutes for a workout.
