Spot the Snail in the Garden

In this follow-up to Spot the Lamb on the Farm and other seek-and-find titles, cheery cartooning and a reader-directed narrative invite children to explore nine outdoor scenes that take them from a backyard garden to a neighborhood pond, park, and more. A pink baby snail is hidden within each spread, while various prompts (“Can you spot these things?”) and questions (“How many squirrels can you count?”) further involve children in the images. Maidment also includes some basic details about the various animals that appear in the scenes (“A squirrel’s nest is called a drey”), and the book concludes with several nature-themed activity ideas, animal facts, and other objects to find in the preceding pages.
