God’s Will: Finding Guidance for Everyday Decisions
By J.I. Packer and Carolyn Nystrom, read by Maurice England. Christianaudio, unabridged, eight CDs, 10.25 hrs., $21.98 ISBN 978-1-61045-331-8
For many Christians, God’s guidance isn’t always clear and his messages can be mixed. Theology professor Packer and freelance writer Nystrom (Is the Reformation Over?) attempt to clarify God’s will and help Christians reconcile some of the confusion and fear they may face in their everyday lives. Maurice England delivers folksy, everyman narration. Instead of preaching, England sounds as if he’s simply doling out friendly advice. This choice is refreshing: many narrators of religious audiobooks adapt a portentous tone that swiftly becomes tedious. England is more down-to-earth, which makes his recitations of scripture and biblical passages—and the advice derived from those passages—extremely easy to listen to. Would that more narrators of religious audios read like England. A Baker paperback. (Jan.)
