The Wurst Is Yet to Come
Mary Daheim, read by Lindsay Ellison. Dreamscape Media, unabridged, eight CDs, 10.25 hrs., $59.99 ISBN 978-1-61120-690-6
When bodies begin to pile up at a stately bed and breakfast in the remote German countryside, innkeeper Judith McMonigle Flynn must find a way to restore her reputation and do her part to assist the local investigation. But when the police chief asks for Flynn's help, she foolishly persuades her cousin to impersonate a detective. Lindsay Ellison reads the audio edition, and unfortunately her narration%E2%80%94with its rushed delivery and world-weary tone%E2%80%94fails to capture the spirit of this cozy mystery set in the Bavarian mountains. And while her renditions of the characters feature distinct voices and dialects, they never fully capture the essence of the characters. All in all, cozy fans will likely be disappointed. A William Morrow hardcover. (July)
