This Orq (He Say “Ugh!”)

Orq the caveboy and his pet woolly mammoth, Woma, return in a story that suggests that bullying is as old as time. Things aren’t easy for Orq and his family (“Cave life tough. Cold cave. Dark night. Raw bison”), but constant torments from an older boy, Dorq, and his vicious bearlike pet, Caba, drive Orq to the breaking point. Elliott’s halting cave-speak and Nichols’s expressive cartooning make for some very funny scenes, and Orq’s accidental discovery of fire solves all of his problems (including the raw bison one) in one fell swoop.
