Enchantment of a Highlander

Martin’s third and final Highlander series novel (after Possession of a Highlander) returns to 17th-century Scotland, where a laird becomes enamored with a healer whom some believe to be a witch. Alec MacLean has come home to claim his inheritance. He meets the ethereal Celia, a healer, when he is injured saving a woman who lives in Celia’s village. The attraction Celia and Alec feel for each other is a force that seems beyond their control, culminating in a sizzling love scene at a nearby loch. Determined to protect Celia, Alec insists that she stay with him at his castle, where she can be safe from the local outlaws, but Celia fears that she will bring danger to Alec and the other residents of the castle, since Laird MacDougall is offering a bag of gold for every witch captured. Romantic tension is an ever-present force as Celia is determined to avoid any romantic entanglements with Alec for fear of being hurt, and Alec is just as determined to have her in his life.
