One Two, Baa Moo: A Pop-Up Book of Counting
Jonathan Litton, illus. by Lisa Verrall. Tiger Tales, $8.99 (12p) ISBN 978-1-68010-507-0
This pop-up board book helps readers count from one to five, with help from friendly farm animals. Upbeat, if unimaginative, rhymes put a strong focus on each featured number and animal (“Two spotty cows,/ moo, moo, moo./ Two spotty cows,/ chew, chew, chew!”), and the pop-ups include three yellow chicks whose beaks open and shut, and five lambs that leap over a fence. The sturdy pop-ups have a good chance of standing up to some manhandling from readers, and the animal images are wisely reprinted underneath the pop-ups so readers can still count along if the book becomes damaged. Simultaneously available: Red Car, Blue Car: A Pop-Up Book of Colors. Ages 2–5. (Sept.)
