The Triangle: The Complete Season 1
Dan Koboldt, Mindy McGinnis, and Sylvia Spruck Wrigley. Serial Box, $13.99 trade paper (412p) ISBN 978-1-68210-791-1
A search for a ship that’s gone missing somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle leads to a sinister discovery in this entertaining sci-fi thriller, which consists of 10 Serial Box “episodes” cowritten by the three authors. To locate the missing ship, the USS Wasp and the 1,336 people aboard it, retired Navy Vice Adm. David Segarra assembles a team consisting of pragmatic NTSB investigator Tessa Dumont, flamboyant conspiracy theorist Alastair McBride, and grieving data recovery expert Michael Hammond. En route to the site, their ship is boarded by Antigua Bay Insp. Marie St. Claire, and then they become marooned on a seemingly deserted island by a vicious storm. But they soon learn they’re not alone, and an underwater city provides the key to a diabolical experiment. The team must work together to discover the island’s secrets and secure their rescue. The story has all the ingredients for a mystery befitting Bermuda Triangle lore, and there are some genuinely creepy moments, but the brisk pace doesn’t allow for too much character development. Still, the authors mesh well, and readers fascinated with all things Bermuda Triangle will find much to enjoy. (June)
