Goodnight, You

In Côté’s fourth Piggy and Bunny title, the friends are preparing for their first outdoor campout, and their insecurities are coming to light. Bunny is terrified after mistaking Piggy’s shadow on their tent for an approaching monster, and Bunny’s efforts to rattle Piggy’s confidence with some monstrous shadow puppets as payback (“What if the monster GROWLS at you?”) don’t do the trick. But Piggy isn’t quite so brave when it’s time for lights out. As in the previous books, Côté’s mixed-media illustrations brim with emotion, showcasing a pair of friends who are devoted to each other despite their differences. Ages 2–up. (Sept.)
