Illuminatlas

This third title in the Illumi series explores the world’s continents through the use of plastic viewing lenses that make hidden pictures appear. For each continent, the red lens allows “cultural highlights” to emerge; the green lens reveals maps; and the blue, animals and plants. Without the lenses, the spreads appear as near-psychedelic swarms of color. The images are most crisp through the red lens, with the blue view offering a more nocturnal filter. Sidebars and black-and-white depictions of the hidden objects provide readers with additional insights into the world regions. Carnovsky, a design team, again delivers a unique reading experience.
