Making Colors: A Pop-Up Book
James Diaz. Tango (IPG/Trafalgar Sq., dist.), $19.95 (10p) ISBN 978-1-85707-853-4
In this companion to Making Shapes, geometric pop-ups demonstrate how primary colors combine to form secondary colors. On one spread, green concentric circles emerge from facing yellow and blue pages: “Bump together blue and yellow to produce green.” Elsewhere, a cluster of orange bubbles bursts outward, curling black and white tendrils turn gray as they meet, and purple oval rings bend toward each other—each pop-up is distinctive and evocative. On the final pages, a towering pile-up of squares in pale blues, deep magentas, and soft greens should leave readers with the sense of the many possibilities of color combination. Ages 5–up. (June)
