Materia Oscura: El Catalejo Lacado
Philip Pullman. Ediciones B, $13.95 (448pp) ISBN 978-84-406-9947-3
YA-Pullman's ""Dark Materials"" series needs no introduction to the U.S. market. His three books, The Golden Compass (1996), The Subtle Knife (1997), and The Amber Spyglass (2000), have all been published by Knopf and have enjoyed phenomenal success among the fantasy literature cognoscenti. Now all three volumes in this series have been published in Spanish translation by Ediciones B (Grupo Zeta) out of Barcelona. The most recently published volume in the series has been expertly translated. The Spanish text reads smoothly and will not hamper aficionados. As in the Englishoriginal, the subject matter is dense and the story complex, with multiple plots and myriad characters. It is highly recommended that readers work their way through the series chronologically in order to better follow the story. This book is best suited for advanced readers and may also be selected for adult collections. Hardcore Pullman fans will demand that you provide this series. For all bookstores and libraries. M.O.B.
