Que Animales! = You're All Animals

PreS-Gr 2-Tom s the elephant is unhappy in his new school because he is the only pachyderm and feels all alone. When he complains to his parents, his father helps him post a message on a computer bulletin board: ""My name is Tom s Trompa [Thomas Trunk] I am 7 years old and I like to ride my scooter."" Although Tom s's discomfort at school continues, his excitement grows as he and his new e-pal, Juan, continue to exchange information and learn that they are very much alike. The crowning excitement for Tom s is that Juan's physical description matches his owngray, big-eared, and long-nosed. They arrange to meet at the school and Tom s is ecstatic to find that his new friend is a mouse! This story is notable for its sweet temper, incorporation of computerized communication, and warm illustrations combining black-line details and pastel washes, reminiscent of the work of Jos Aruego and Ariane Dewey.
