What’s Your Favorite Color, Pascal?
Magali Le Huche. Twirl (Chronicle, dist.), $12.99 (30p) ISBN 979-1-0276-0139-4
In the third book in the Pascal Chronicles, Pascal the platypus enlists his friends’ help and advice while repainting his underground home. Cardigan the rabbit, Fancy the turtle, and the others all believe that their own favorite colors are the perfect choice; turning the pages reveals the growing chaos as Pascal’s home turns from orange to green to pink and so on. Numerous flaps are incorporated into the scenes, offering fun glimpses of now-covered layers of paint, as well as several cavorting mice (Pascal seems to have a rodent problem in addition to a color one). There isn’t much of a plot or message beyond “to each his own,” but Le Huche’s wonderfully Gallic cartooning offers a lot of entertainment value. Ages 4–7. Agent: Kirsten Hall, Catbird Agency. (Apr.)
