The digital services provider Aptara has been acquired by iEnergizer, an international business process outsourcing company that has offices around the world. Dev Ganesan, Aptara CEO, said the acquisition will enable Aptara to focus on its core business while providing it with resources to expand the range of services it can offer clients. iEnergizer specializes in operating backoffice functions while also operating call centers and customer service support from offices in India and Mauritius. Those offices will be available to supply more support for Aptara’s clients, Ganesan said. Purchase price was $144 million.

Publicly-trade on the London stock exchange, iEnergizer will also give Aptara the resources to make strategic acquisitions to expand into new technology platforms and into new international markets, Ganesan said. The acquisition Ganesan added, “gives Aptara a wider and longer runway for expanding the scope and scale of our operations at a time when publishers are pursuing vendor consolidation.”

Aptara will operate as a standalone company under Ganesan from its headquarters in Falls Church, Vir. Sara Latham, iEnergizer chairman, and Anil Agarwal, company founder, will join the Aptara board.
