  • Fiction Titles Dominated Last Week's Bestseller List

    The top 15 bestsellers last week were all fiction, led by Quentin Tarantino’s 'Once Upon a Time In Hollywood,' which sold more than 48,000 copies in its first week on sale. Overall, unit sales increased 4% over the week ended July 4, 2020.

  • Bookshop.org Continues to See Strong Sales

    With the reopening of bookstores across the U.S. to in-store customers, Bookshop.org has seen sales slip in the April-June period compared to the second quarter of 2020, but sales for the entire first half of 2021 are still up 17%.

  • Print Sales Rose 6.4% at the End of June

    Unit sales of print books rose 6.4% in the week ended June 26, 2021, over the comparable week in 2020, at outlets that report to NPD BookScan.

  • Quarto Group CEO Resigns

    Polly Powell, CEO of Quarto Group since September 2020, has resigned. The U.K.-based publisher, which also has a large U.S. presence, will look for a successor on "both sides of the Atlantic," a Quarto executive said.

  • Fiction Sales Continue to Rise

    Sales of adult fiction rose 28.1% last week and young adult fiction jumped 49.6%, driving a 6.4% increase in total unit sales of print books last week over the week ended June 27, 2020.

  • Retail Sales Finish Fiscal 2021 Down 22.5% at B&NE

    Sales in Barnes & Noble Education’s retail division, by far its largest group, showed some improvement in the final quarter of fiscal 2021 ended May 1, 2021, but sales for the full year declined 22.5%, to $1.33 billion.

    Once again, A Room of One’s Own in Madison, Wis., is a bookstore in transition. Founded by five young women in 1975, A Room relocated in 1997 and again in 2011. A Room will reopen in a 4,300-square-foot space in late July.

  • New Adult Fiction Dominates Bestseller List

    Unit sales of adult fiction titles jumped 28% last week over the comparable week in 2020. Seven of the top 10 overall bestsellers last week were brand-new novels.
