After trying to represent its own books for the past six years, Chelsea Green Publishing is moving back to commission reps. Starting this week with the spring 2012 list, the Karel/Dutton Group, Abraham & Associates, Bill McClung & Associates, Rovers, LLC, and Nanci McCrackin will carry the Vermont-based publisher’s books in their bags.
“It was primarily to have someone back in the stores selling face-to-face, which is still what a lot of buyers want, and what our books need. With the size of our list it just hasn’t been feasible for us to do that with in-house reps,” says trade sales manager Michael Weaver.
Chelsea Green will continue to handle its own distribution. It publishes and/or distributes 35 to 50 books a year on sustainable living and progressive politics.
