Sourcebooks has named the new education division it launched in September with www.MyMaxScore.com, an online SAT/ACT test prep web site. Sourcebooks EDU will focus upon providing multimedia products and tools for college–bound students, their parents, and educators. Besides MyMaxScore.com, Sourcebooks EDU currently features two subscriber-based online resources designed to assist the college-bound manage the costs of higher education: www.managingcollegecost.com and www.myfinancialfit.com. Managingcollegecost. com provides links and videos deciphering the financial aid process for those headed to college, while myfinancialfit.com includes a questionnaire designed to match families with colleges and universities that are within their price range.

“In recent years, we’ve seen the education space developing a desire and need for both independent experts and innovative modular digital based solutions,” Dominique Raccah, Sourcebooks’s publisher, wrote in an e-mail to PW this morning. “Our belief is that, today we can and must reach readers with our authors in any place or format the reader chooses.”

Sourcebooks EDU is the company’s sixth active imprint. There currently are four dedicated employees, in editorial, sales, and technology, with the company intending to add three more dedicated employees to the group. There are 80 Sourcebooks employees total.

Set for fall 2012 from Sourcebooks EDU is the print format to guidance counselor Frank Palmasani’s companion volume to managingcollegecost.com and myfinancialfit.com: Fit College Search: The New System for discovering the Best College Fit at the Best Price. Sourcebooks intends to produce videos, webinars, interactive e-books, software tools, and other content that will be added to these two web sites.
