After weighing different proposals from the parties involved, Judge Denise Cote has set June 3, 2013 as the date for the Department of Justice’s e-book price fixing case against Apple, Penguin and Macmillan to begin. Apple in particular had been pushing for a quick trial date, noting it was eager to “vindicate its conduct,” and asserting it did nothing wrong when it signed agency model pricing contracts with five major houses. Hachette, HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster have settled with the DoJ.
