Words without Borders has announced a Kickstarter campaign in support of Bellevue Literary Press and Pushkin Press's publication of Guatemalan author Eduardo Halfon's The Polish Boxer. Words without Borders published an early English translation of the short story “The Polish Boxer” in July 2009 and the organization hopes the Kickstarter campaign will generate enough funding to bring Halfon to New York and London to promote the book and speak with high school students.

The title story tells a fictionalized account from Eduardo’s grandfather, revealing after almost 60 years that he was a prisoner at Auschwitz and how he managed to survive. The novel explores how two men, both weighed down by their heritage, forge their identities.
