Familus, launched this year by former Gibbs Smith CEO Christopher Robbins as a digital press specializing in family and parenting books, has announced that its first two titles, released this month, have landed on Amazon Kindle’s Fatherhood category bestseller list at numbers one and five.

Bill Lepp’s Muddling Through: Perspectives on Fatherhood reached the number one spot, followed by Tim J. Myers’s Glad to Be Dad: A Call to Fatherhood, which landed at number five. Familius, based in Salt Lake City, started its business in March 2012 after Robbins stepped down from his position at Gibbs Smith, where he had been for 17 years. “Of course it’s taken a bit longer than we intended to launch the business,” says Robbins, “but immediately succeeding with the first two titles means a lot. We’re thrilled to have such great authors in our family.”

Familius will release around 30 digital titles within the next few months, and its spring 2013 list of 20 titles will debut with Ingram Publisher Services as its distributor. The company will focus on publishing books on parenting, marriage, family fun, health and wellness, education, and children’s titles.
