Sales Snapshot
After slipping to #2 last week, Kristin Hannah’s The Women is again #1 in the country, leading the Northeast and North Central regions. New releases include Peter Schweizer’s Blood Money, which tops the South Atlantic and Pacific states, and Dr. Phil’s We’ve Got Issues, strong in his native West South Central states. Also new to the list: C.J. Box’s latest Joe Pickett novel, Three-Inch Teeth; it did best in the region that includes Wyoming, home to both author and series. And thanks to the annual Read Across America initiative, Green Eggs and Ham is on the East South Central menu.
Star Power
Tommy Orange follows his 2018 debut, There There, with Wandering Stars, which finds its way onto our hardcover fiction list
at #8. Our starred review praised the author’s “incandescent prose and precise insights.” The first novel, which likewise received a starred review, has sold 586K print copies to date, and in a prepub interview with PW, Orange acknowledged the expectations
engendered by such success. “I think the sophomore effort comes with a lot of pressure,” he said. “When writing the first book, I never imagined an audience. The second time around, it was hard to deny that there would be one.”

Burn Book
Kara Swisher
#8 Hardcover Nonfiction
Longtime Silicon Valley journalist Swisher comes out swinging, with colorful anecdotes (one begins, “As sweat poured down Mark Zuckerberg’s pasty and rounded face”) and pithy assessments—Elon Musk is “loudly sexist, puerile, transphobic, homophobic, conspiracy drenched, and a tweeter of
unfunny memes.”
