Portland, Ore.–based graphic novel publisher Oni-Lion Forge has appointed Sierra Hahn its editor-in-chief, effective immediately. In her new role, Hahn will oversee the company’s publishing line and editorial team.
Hahn had most recently served as executive editor at Boom! Studios for the last seven years. She will report to Hunter Gorinson, who joined Oni-Lion Forge from Boom! in December. "Sierra is an immense talent, and, without a doubt, the ideal choice to lead our editorial team," Gorinson said in a statement. Gorinson added he expects to make additional appointments soon that will form "a foundational part of [our] leadership team."
Oni-Lion Forge’s former leadership ranks had been largely eliminated last summer. Longtime publisher James Lucas Jones, v-p of creative and business development Charlie Chu, and senior v-p of sales and marketing Alex Segura were among the executives fired.
Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group was formed through a merger of Oni Press with fellow independent comic book publisher, Lion Forge Comics, in 2019. Lion Forge was founded in 2011 by entrepreneur David Steward II and the merged company now exists as a subsidiary of Steward’s global media company, Polarity.
In a prepared statement, Steward said he is confident Hahn “will be an integral part of building Oni’s next contributions to the canon of great comics and graphic novels.”
