Mack has announced a new imprint, Important Flowers, run by filmmaker Sofia Coppola. The imprint comes after Coppola's work with Mack on her monograph Archive. Mack is based in London and known for publishing art and film–related titles, including a series of screenplays based on movies from studio A24.
"Our first collaboration with Sofia on her book Archive was a wonderful experience, and we are all thrilled by its global success. We're delighted that Sofia is entrusting us with Important Flowers," Michael Mack said in a statement.
The imprint's first title, The Virgin Suicides, will be released in April 2025 to mark the film's 25th anniversary. The book contains photographs by British fashion photographer Corinne Day from the film's set. "I'm such a massive fan, so I was happy I got to meet her and be friends with her," Coppola told Vogue. "This book is really a tribute to her and a chance to share all these wonderful photos with people who might not be familiar with her work."
Next September, Important Flowers will publish Chanel Haute Couture, a 450-page visual history of the fashion house's designs. The book includes Polaroids, runway shots, and images taken by Coppola, who worked as an intern at Chanel under Karl Lagerfeld.
Coppola told Vogue she plans to expand Important Flowers to include works by new photographers and republish out-of-print books. "I wanna focus on making books with emerging photographers that I like and wanna support. And maybe even reprint some old books I love that are out of print now," she said.
