Get to the Heart: My Story

Country music star Mandrell, a performer since age 11, here tells of the family support that has accompanied her throughout her career and during the recent vicissitudes of her life. That support is significant in the comeback she describes in the aftermath of an automobile accident in 1984 which killed the driver of the other car and left Mandrell seriously hurt and depressed. With the assistance of Vecsey, coauthor with Loretta Lynn of Coal Miner's Daughter , she recounts her recovery, paying tribute to her parents, husband, other family members and to her Christian upbringing, interweaving her history as a performer from humble origins in a musical family.
