Lindsey Spinks highlights the Colosseum and Taj Mahal in carefully outlined images set in Polaroid-esque frames; lifting the flaps offers cutaway views of these and other structures. Clair Rossiter tackles common items like a retractable pen and toaster, whose inner workings are clearly pictured and described. Despite the variety of illustrators, the look and design of the book remains cohesive as it lets readers see a different side of both ordinary and extraordinary things, from the Great Pyramids to a humble red cabbage.
