That's Mine, That's Yours
Angie Sage, Chris Sage. Viking Children's Books, $12.95 (32pp) ISBN 978-0-670-83746-5
It isn't always easy to share--especially when one's sibling is too young to understand the concept. Here, an older sister displays admirable patience as she tries to convey to her baby sister that certain objects--toys, clothing, an apple at lunchtime--are ``mine'' and others are ``yours.'' Baby, of course, has far greater interest in the things that fall into the former category. After an initial tugging match over a toy duck, the big-hearted older girl shows her willingness to share. In the end, the sleeping baby unwittingly reciprocates, as she shares her crib when her sister climbs in for a bedtime snuggle. The book's combination of succinct, easy-to-read text; boldly-colored, action-filled illustrations; and labeled pictures of individual objects found throughout the story make this a good choice for toddlers as well as older siblings. Ages 2-6. (Mar.)
