Mouse Feathers
Robert M. Quackenbush. Clarion Books, $12.95 (30pp) ISBN 978-0-89919-527-8
Mouse's two nephews invade her domicile for the evening while she babysits them. A pillow fight turns into a feather storm; she flutters and frets about the house before finally interceding. Trouble resumes when the vacuum exhales air rather than inhaling it. A newly painted room, rising dough and gooey frosted cake are soon befeathered, and the nephews get sick just as the storm dies down. The doctor visits, and his diagnosis is a touch of ``Mouse Feathers.'' Quackenbush's energetic plot has a very thin thread of logic, but readers will like his lively colors, the whirlwind commotion in every scene and Mouse's always amusing expressions. Ages 5-8. (April)
