This Week in Children's Apps: July 14, 2011
This week in apps features a royal princess adventure complete with toys and animals – Princess Baby lets players pick one of four characters to give the royal treatment. Also this week, Into the Snow: A Stella and Sam Adventure comes to digital platforms after becoming a bestselling children's book. Players follow Stella, Sam, and their dog Fred as they search for their toboggan. Leo the Lightning Bug focuses on building self-confidence and believing in yourself as players follow Leo's quest to make his very own light.

Reports that the duchess loved the Canadian classic Anne of Green Gables as a girl and wanted to visit Prince Edward Island, the province where the series is set, have sparked a lot of interest and media attention during the royal couple's Canadian tour.

Harper Children's Books Debuts Digital 'I Can Read' Series
HarperCollins Children's Books is teaming with both the Apple iBookstore and Barnes & Noble's Nook Bookstore to launch digital editions of its popular I Can Read early reader series. Harper will set up I Can Read digital boutiques at each online store, launching with 80 titles with plans for more to come.

Papercutz, Lego to Launch Ninjago Graphic Novels
Blazing Lego ninja action will come to kids' graphic novel imprint Papercutz this fall, with the publication of the first in a series of Ninjago graphic novels. Ninjago is a line of Lego products featuring ninjas who practice the martial art of Spinjitzu, a tradition found only in the Lego world.

S&S Announces New Dork Diaries Books
On the heels of the recent release of Rachel Renée Russell's Dork Diaries 3: Tales from a Not-So-Talented Pop Star, Simon & Schuster's Aladdin imprint has announced details about the publication of the fifth and sixth books in the series in summer 2013 and 2014.

This week in apps offers two well-known children's books: Dr. Seuss's Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! gets a digital version, complete with the ability for the player to follow the author through his legendary story; Twinkle Twinkle Little Star comes to tablets with 3D images that can be turned and tilted, with a narration of the classic poem in more than five languages.
