Here at Children's Bookshelf we were clearing out our… bookshelf… to make room for the final installment of Harry Potter, and we got curious about which of the many thick and getting-thicker-all-the-time books in our library would produce the most empty space if we removed it.

Would it be:

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire?

Aidan Chambers’s This Is All?

Or The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick?

It was a very close contest. How did they stack up?

Hugo Cabret: 2.2 inches.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: 2.4 inches

And the winner:

This Is All: 2.5 inches!
