Cover Reveal: The New Rick Riordan

This morning the Disney Book Group unveiled the cover for the first title in Rick Riordan’s new series, The Kane Chronicles. The series starts up on May 4 with The Red Pyramid, which will be released simultaneously in hardcover and audio (recorded by Brilliance). The middle-grade series, starring siblings Carter and Sadie Kane, is set in the present and, like Riordan’s Percy Jackson series, draws from mythology (this time, Egyptian). Disney’s dedicated Web site for the series went live today as well, and offers an animated version of the book jacket. The Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog has an excerpt from The Red Pyramid.

Anything but ‘Lonely’

Elizabeth Eulberg—who by day goes by the title of director of global publicity for Stephenie Meyer at Little, Brown—took a moment to celebrate her own (and her first) book for teens, The Lonely Hearts Club (Scholastic/Point, Jan.), about a girl who starts a school club for girls who commit to taking a break from boys and dating. Friends and fans joined Eulberg to toast the book’s launch earlier this month at Books of Wonder in New York City (here, Eulberg reads from the book at the event). Mandalay Pictures (Sleepy Hollow; Into the Blue) has optioned film rights.
