Michael Cavanaugh, former children’s buyer at Barnes & Noble, died unexpectedly last weekend. He joined B&N in the early 1980s after working at Eeyore’s Books for Children, and continued to buy for the chain following the acquisition of B. Dalton and the growth of B&N Junior. He later worked in marketing at Disney Publishing, was an editor at B&N Publishing, and also worked at Bookazine, Books of Wonder, and Bank Street Bookstore. In recent years he had moved to Florida. A gathering of friends will take place on Monday, March 1, at the Hourglass Tavern, 373 W. 46th St., NYC, from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M.
