Maurice Lyon and Janetta Otter-Barry.

Janetta Otter-Barry, editorial director of Frances Lincoln Children’s Books in the U.K., will set up her own list beginning next month, under the Frances Lincoln umbrella. Back in 1988, Otter-Barry, then editorial director at Methuen Children’s Books, was invited by the late Frances Lincoln to set up a children’s list, and has run it ever since. Bestselling titles include Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman, illustrated by Caroline Binch, and last year’s We Are All Born Free: The Declaration of Human Rights in Pictures, published in association with Amnesty International.

Janetta Otter-Barry Books will produce approximately 20 titles a year including picture books, information books and young fiction. Otter Barry will continue to work with the authors she has developed and will also publish the winner of the inaugural Frances Lincoln Diverse Voices Children’s Book Award.

Frances Lincoln Children’s Books will now be run by Maurice Lyon, currently senior editor in the company.
