Abrams’s Amulet Books imprint has unveiled the title and cover of book 15 in author-illustrator Jeff Kinney’s mega-selling series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid; The Deep End will be published simultaneously in 25 countries, in both hardcover and ebook format, on October 27.
The new book follows Greg Heffley and his family on a cross-country camping trip. Vacation turns to disaster when they end up stranded at an RV park as a torrential storm hits. Charles Kochman, editorial director of Abrams and Kinney’s longtime editor, will edit The Deep End.
A second new Wimpy Kid World book is also due this fall. Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Adventure, Kinney’s first fantasy novel will be available on August 4. Publication was originally slated for April 7, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, Kinney and his team at Abrams decided to postpone the release, in hopes of reaching a wider readership in August.
The book is the follow-up to Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid (April 2019), starring Greg Heffley’s sidekick Rowley, which was an immediate #1 bestseller in every country where it was published.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid books are published in 76 editions in 64 languages. Since the series debuted in 2007, more than 250 million copies of the books have been sold globally.
