In this picture book biography of Hong Kong–born martial artist, stuntman, actor, and director Jackie Chan, Giang traces the figure’s life, covering his childhood, a disciplined decade of schooling at the China Drama Academy, and his becoming a stuntman for Bruce Lee and later developing his own style.

There's a Rock Concert in My Bedroom by Kevin Jonas and Danielle Jonas, illus. by Courtney Dawson. Razorbill, $17.99 (40p) ISBN 978-0-593-35207-6. In this picture book written by a member of the Jonas Brothers and his wife, a young musician’s school talent show becomes an opportunity to overcome her fears and look to family for encouragement.

I'll Go and Come Back by Rajani LaRocca, illus. by Sara Palacios. Candlewick, $18.99 (40p) ISBN 978-1-5362-0717-0. Joyti’s return to India from America leaves her feeling displaced, until her grandmother helps her feel at home by inviting her into her routine. The picture book earned a starred review from PW.

So This Is Ever After by F.T. Lukens. S&S/McElderry, $19.99 (352p) ISBN 978-1-5344-9686-6. With only three months left before he must make a “soul bond” with someone, Arek, a queer medieval hero, navigates the complicated road to finding his happily-ever-after.

Cress Watercress by Gregory Maguire, illus. by David Litchfield. Candlewick, $19.99 (224p) ISBN 978-1-5362-1100-9. Following the disappearance of Papa Watercress, Rabbit child Cress and her family move to “an apartment tree,” with a spirited cast of animal residents, and attempt to find the meaning of home. The middle grade book earned a starred review from PW.

This Is a School by John Schu, illus. by Veronica Miller Jamison. Candlewick, $17.99 (40p) ISBN 978-1-5362-0458-2. Librarian and book advocate Schu invites readers into a school community in which all voices are heard, each person learns, and everyone—and everything, including the plants in the school garden—grows.

Dog & Hat and the Lost Polka Dots by Darin Shuler. Chronicle, $14.99 (80p) ISBN 978-1-79720-688-2. A yellow dog and his best friend, a talkative green chapeau, embark on a quest through the sewers in this graphic novel debut.

Perfectly Pegasus by Jessie Sima. Simon & Schuster, $17.99 (48p) ISBN 978-1-5344-9717-7. In Sima’s version of a crossover episode, Nimbus, a pegasus, meets Kelp, the unicorn protagonist of Not Quite Narwhal. Nimbus has pursued a falling star to an island in hopes that wishing on it will bring about “someone to keep her company.”

Sir Ladybug by Corey R. Tabor. HarperCollins/Balzer + Bray, $12.99 (72p) ISBN 978-0-06-306906-0. In Tabor’s graphic novel series opener, Sir Ladybug is the proverbial gentle knight who doesn’t like big fusses, despite being armored up and sword-toting. But when a caterpillar is in danger of being eaten, Sir Ladybug goes on a comic adventure with his friends. The book for young readers earned a starred review from PW.

The Most Dazzling Girl in Berlin by Kip Wilson. Versify, $18.99 (416p) ISBN 978-0-358-44890-7. In this Weimar-era free verse novel, Hilde hopes to overcome her fear of stage fright and move from friendship to romance with her best friend, as WWII edges closer and closer.
