In this modern spin on Pride and Prejudice, Desi debate team phenom Leela feels an easy kinship with new teammate Jishnu, but his betrayal reveals the misogyny that young women face in their field. The YA novel earned a starred review from PW.

Kicks by Van G. Garrett, illus. by Reggie Brown. Versify, $17.99 (32p) ISBN 978-0-358-11810-7. Young sneaker fanatic Joshua’s acquisition of a pair of rare new sneakers showcases both the practicality and cultural appreciation of footwear.

The Superpower Sisterhood by Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush, illus. by Cyndi Wojciechowski (Little, Brown, $18.99; ISBN 978-0-316-62844-0). A girl befriends two sets of twins, discover they each have special talents, and form a club dedicated to helping the residents of their neighborhood.

This Book Is Not for You! by Shannon Hale, illus. by Tracy Subisak. Dial, $18.99 (40p) ISBN 978-1-984816-85-6. A boy’s trip to acquire new books takes a surreal turn in this picture book exploring the idea of gendering/limiting a book’s audience.

The Drowning Summer by Christine Lynn Herman. Little, Brown, $18.99 (384p) ISBN 978-0-7595-5753-6. Former friends Mina and Evelyn are now on their own individual journeys as mediums, but a visit to their spiritual spot, also known for the death of six high school juniors, brings up memories of why their friendship ended.

Out in the Wild! by Mike Lowery. Graphix, $22.99 (64p) ISBN 978-1-338-72632-9. While on a hike to potentially earn a bug badge, a band of insect critters meet an amphibian whose intentions aren’t what they seem. The graphic novel earned a starred review from PW.

We Are Better Together by Bill McKibben, illus. by Stevie Lewis (Holt, $18.99; ISBN 978-1-250-75515-5). A community unites in this picture book about the power of fellowship in the face of climate change, written by the renowned environmentalist.

Kick Push by Frank Morrison. Bloomsbury, $18.99 (40p) ISBN 978-1-5476-0592-7. In hopes of making friends to skate with in his new neighborhood, skateboarding expert Ivan takes a ride through the city while learning that the best way to make friends is to be yourself. The picture book earned a starred review from PW.

My Sister’s Big Fat Indian Wedding by Sajni Patel. Amulet, $18.99 (368p) ISBN 978-1-4197-5453-1. A hip-hop violinist’s desire to prove to her parents that music could be her future by competing in a local competition conflicts with her sister’s wedding scheduled for the same day.

Endlessly Ever After: Pick Your Path to Countless Fairy Tale Endings! by Laurel Snyder, illus. by Dan Santat. Chronicle, $18.99 (92p) ISBN 978-1-4521-4482-5. In this choose your adventure book, readers decide how Rosie’s fairy tale inspired tale will end.

The Edge of In Between by Lorelei Savaryn (Viking, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-593-20209-8). In this magic-infused reimagining of The Secret Garden, the Land of the Living no longer has color to young Lottie, until she discovers the garden in her uncle’s backyard that shows her Ever After, a universe in technicolor, that threatens to overtake her own.
