Becky Albertalli, author of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda and other bestsellers for teens, has revealed the next in her lineup of YA rom-coms, called Imogen, Obviously.

On October 7, Albertalli took to Instagram to announce the upcoming book with a cover reveal. Set to launch on May 2, 2023, from Balzer + Bray, Albertalli’s latest centers on Imogen, who suddenly comes to terms with her own queerness upon meeting another girl. Described as a “bi awakening,” the book joins Albertalli’s catalogue of joyous queer-centered rom-coms.

Albertalli is the writer behind several popular queer YA novels and collaborations, including her award-winning 2015 novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, which was adapted for film. The coming-of-age story features a coming-out plotline and has been challenged in book banning efforts in recent years. Albertalli has also worked with fellow authors such as Adam Silvera and Aisha Saeed on books such as the What If It’s Us duology and Yes, No, Maybe So, respectively.
