Good news for Dog Man fans: more adventures of the crime-fighting canine are on the way. Scholastic has announced the March 19, 2024 publication of Dog Man: The Scarlet Shedder, the 12th book in Dav Pilkey's mega-selling graphic novel series, which has more than 60 million copies in print and has been translated into 45 languages. Publication will be simultaneous in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, and New Zealand; the new book follows this spring’s Dog Man: Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea, which is currently the bestselling book for children in the U.S.

Pilkey said in a statement, “Dog Man started out as a character I created when I was in second grade, but the series has evolved into a love letter to my parents. Looking back as a kid growing up with dyslexia and ADHD, my parents, who were my best advocates, let me choose whatever books I wanted to read—with no judgment. Their support and love were life-changing and helped me to become the reader, author, and illustrator that I am today.”

In other Pilkey news, Cat Kid Comic Club: Influencers, a new volume in his Dog Man spinoff series, will be released on November 28. A Dog Man movie is currently in the works from DreamWorks Animation, and Dog Man: The Musical, a stage adaptation by TheaterWorksUSA that ran at New York City’s Lucille Lortel Theater in 2019, is now touring in Australia, and a North American tour will visit San Francisco, Seattle, and Los Angeles this fall and continue in 2024.
