HarperCollins has announced a four-book publishing deal with Emmy Award–winning actor Jennifer Aniston, and Invisible Universe, an “internet-first” family entertainment animation studio.

The first of the quartet, Clydeo Takes a Bite Out of Life, is written by Aniston and illustrated by Bruno Jacob, and inspired by Aniston’s own rescue dog Clyde. The story follows Clydeo, who longs to have a passion like everyone else in his family and discovers his love for cooking. The book will release on October 1 in the U.S. and U.K., with future titles including a cookbook and two I Can Read! leveled readers.

The dog made his first appearance on Instagram in December 2021 in animations featuring his many misadventures, and he has since garnered a sizeable following. Nancy Inteli, VP and publisher of HarperCollins Children’s Books, bought world English rights for the Clydeo program from Cait Hoyt at CAA.

“When I decided to partner with Invisible Universe to bring Clydeo to life on social media, I could have never imagined how much joy he would bring to his fans and followers,” Aniston said in a release. “I could not be more thrilled to be taking Clydeo and his stories to publishing, where he will hopefully inspire children and dog lovers alike with his adorable journey to find his true passion.”
