In celebration of Halloween and the 25th anniversary of R.L. Stine’s bestselling Goosebumps series, Scholastic has teamed up with Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF on the #BeScaryGood campaign. Children who take part in the initiative can collect funds for charity as they go door to door trick-or-treating. This year, donations will go toward UNICEF’s emergency relief work, which is aimed at helping children affected by recent hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.
This Halloween, more than one million Goosebumps-themed Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF boxes are being distributed to children and families across the country. Popular Goosebumps character Slappy and other monsters from the series are featured on the collection boxes and on additional materials designed for the campaign.
Ann Amstutz Hayes, senior v-p of Scholastic National Partnerships, told PW, “Scholastic and UNICEF have been working together for the past three years to increase awareness of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF by providing lessons for classrooms that help educators teach about global citizenship and students understand how they can give back to kids around the world. We are delighted that this year, we are able to incorporate the fun-scary appeal of Goosebumps into this important program!”
