The inaugural I Read Canadian Day, a nationwide grassroots event, was hosted by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre, the Ontario Library Association, and the Forest of Reading festival on February 19. The initiative invited everyone across the country to stop and read a Canadian book for 15 minutes at some point during the day. A launch event at Folkstone Public School in Brampton, Ontario, featured prominent Canadian YA author Eric Walters, along with a number of other local writers. Throughout the day, social media highlighted the activities of bookstores, libraries, schools, and the general public. We’ve gathered a selection of photos from the event.
