Zando, a new independent publishing house founded by former Crown publisher Molly Stern, has hired Tiffany Liao as executive editor to lead the company’s Young Readers initiative, effective June 9. Currently senior editor at Henry Holt Books for Young Readers, Liao has worked with a number of high-profile authors and has edited such New York Times bestsellers as Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi and Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley.
Liao will work closely with Zando’s team to identify and shape opportunities across fiction and nonfiction for middle grade and teen readers, including developing literary content internally. She will report to Emily Bell, head of editorial.
Liao said in a statement, “I’ve always strived to push at and expand the boundaries of how we as an industry publish, so I’m thrilled to be leading the young readers line at such an innovative company. Our young readers are dynamic, endlessly inventive, and richly diverse. With Zando’s unique publishing approach, we can meet readers where they are, with the stories that they have been searching for.”
Separately, it was announced that beginning in January 2022, Ingram's Two Rivers Distribution will become Zando's distributor.
