Stacy Lellos has been named publisher of Workman Children’s Books, and will join the company on October 18. Lellos is a 28-year veteran of book publishing and children’s retail, and was most recently president of Klutz.
“Getting to work with this team is a dream job, and I’m honored to continue the rich Workman tradition of joyously bringing books to children that celebrate the curiosity and passion of all young readers,” Lellos said in a statement.
Lellos began her career in marketing at Simon & Schuster, where she worked for five years before moving to Scholastic, where she held multiple roles including v-p, marketing and multi-platform publishing. She then joined Toys R Us as v-p of brand marketing, and was named president of Klutz (which is owned by Scholastic) in 2014.
Susan Bolotin, Workman publisher and editorial director, said, “Finding the right publisher for Workman’s children’s group wasn’t easy. We knew we needed an experienced visionary who would grow the business while honoring what it is and the people who create it—but we have found that person in Stacy.” Workman senior v-p Dan Reynolds agreed, saying, “We couldn’t be more excited to see where she takes us.”
