The Fierce Reads tour, Macmillan’s twice-yearly series of YA author events, was back in-person for the first time since the pandemic began. The tour featured authors Aminah Mae Safi (Travelers Along the Way, Feiwel and Friends), Axie Oh (The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea, Feiwel and Friends), Racquel Marie (Ophelia After All, Feiwel and Friends) and Lizz Huerta (The Lost Dreamer, Farrar, Straus and Giroux). The group met with many excited fans who stopped by at Old Firehouse Books in Fort Collins, Colo., on March 2, Blue Willow Bookshop in Houston on March 3, BookPeople in Austin on March 4, and ending with the North Texas Teen Book Festival in Dallas on the fifth. We’ve gathered highlights from the festivities.

Authors (from l.) Aminah Mae Safi, Axie Oh, Lizz Huerta, and Racquel Marie mimic the chaos Elmo meme alongside their books. The group jokingly dubbed themselves the “Chaos Elmo Tour” after they found out that, when it comes to writing, they are all pantsers as opposed to plotters.

Fans were able to get their books signed by the authors and meet them in person.
