Recently an author visited her former elementary school; a book signing attracted travelers; an author presented her appetizing book with students; an illustrator matched outfits with a special guest; an author attended a launch party; and students enjoyed tales about unicorns.


How the Time Flies

Author Elizabeth Eulberg closed out her recent Midwest tour promoting Zombie Wedding Crashers, the second book in her Scared Silly series, with an event at her former grade school, St. Mary's in Portage, Wis. On October 30, Eulberg (c.) spoke with students about her career and her time at the school. She also reunited with two of her former teachers there: Peg Napralla (l.) and Carol Austen (r.).


The Traveling Storyteller

Last month, Sean O’Brien held a signing for his debut middle grade novel White House Clubhouse at Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C. In partnership with Stellar airport stores, O’Brien welcomed guests from all over the world to his signing table. The middle grade series takes a look at the White House from the eyes of its youngest residents, children of the president.


Building an Appetite

Students at Chicora Elementary in North Charleston, S.C., welcomed author and actor Natalie Daise on October 12 for a visit, in partnership with The Country Bookshop and The First Bank Book Club. Daise shared her debut picture book Okra Stew (Holt), which follows a father-daughter duo preparing to make a special dinner together.


A ‘Twinning’ Duo

On October 22, illustrator Paul O. Zelinsky appeared at Charter Books in Newport, R.I., for an event in honor of his latest picture book, Cinderella and a Mouse Called Fred (Random House/Schwartz), written by Deborah Hopkinson. Zelinsky’s grandson Norman accompanied the artist in a matching book-themed outfit.


Baby Fever

Author Susanna Reich celebrated the release for her picture book Pass the Baby, illustrated by Raúl Colón (Holiday House/Porter), with a launch party at Hudson Valley Books for Humanity in Ossining, N.Y., on October 21. In Pass the Baby, the excitement around a family meal is outshined when the newest member of the family arrives and everyone wants a chance to hold her.


Unicorns Unite

In partnership with local bookstore Little Shop of Stories in Decatur, Ga., author April Showers made a visit to Holy Innocents Episcopal School to share her Afro Unicorn book series (Random House). The series follows unicorn best friends Magical, Unique, and Divine in their magical adventures.
